    Responsibilities

     Production Management
    49 day group check
    Barn environment check (air, water, feed)
    Comply with euthanasia policy
    Condition Scoring
    Cull selection for gestation sows
    Ensure Breed Department feed bin management
    Ensure overall barn organization and cleanliness
    Feedback
    Implement pest control program
    Manage ADKAR plans
    Manage expiration dates on meds and supplies
    Manage hospital pen
    Manage non-productive days
    Manage gestation inventory
    Manage withdrawal dates
    Monitor daily ventilation checklist
    Monitor feed system for proper operation
    Monitor Push list (problem eaters - ESFS)
    Monitor sow herd health and condition of gestating sows
    Oversee heat checking of gestating groups
    Oversee treatments of gestating sows
    Preg checking
    Review action list for area of responbility
    Mark sows to farrow
    Schedule gestation vaccinations
    Transfer animals from gestation pens to farrowing
    Month end breed barn inventory
    Oversee all record keeping for area
    Responsible for response to emergency alarms and situations
     Communication
    Communicate health issues to manager/vet
    Communicate month end supply needs to manager
    Communicate repair and maintenance needs to manager
    Communicate with internal/external customers
    Communicate with manager obstacles to implementing polices
    Create and communicate daily work schedule
    Delegate tasks to team members
    Communicate new policies
    Lead weekly breeding team meeting
    Oversee and troubleshoot department repairs/maintenance
    Participate in weekly farm team meeting
    Participate/lead in monthly talk topics
    Safety huddles
     
     
     
     Talent Management
    Bio-security training
    Develop team members
    Participate in training as needed
    Training on production policies and processes for area
    Training team members on Electronic Sow Feeding System
    Participate in annual team member evaluations in collaboration with Barn Supervisor
    Participate in prospective team member interviews
    Oversee completion of daily tasks and team member time management
    Assist with conflict resolution for area
    Ensuring team members are wearing proper PPE
    Hold team members accountable for gestation activities, company policies and key expectations
    Set goals for team
    Oversee training of new team members as needed
    Training of team members in Level 1 and Level 2 certification
     
     
     Planning
    Identify any team members for sucession plan advancement
    Review production reports (performance monitor, weekly benchmarks, etc.) and plan appropriate action for continuous immprovement
    Schedule team members to complete diagnostic collection
    Target fallout mix
    Plan with Early Care Lead due to farrow
    Utilize Continous Improvement tools
    Order replacement PPE as necessary
    Fill in for Breeding and Gilt Development Lead as needed

    Qualifications

     

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    •  Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or a degree from an accredited technical school; or a minimum of five years related experiences and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    •  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    •  Must understand that the Company is a producer of high quality pork and be supportive of the mission of raising swine for meat.
    •  Must be willing to learn and perform the responsibilities described within CVFF’s process manual.
    •  Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
    •  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
