    Country View Family Farms is currently looking for a Director of Nursery and Finishing Production. This position will contribute to the Country View Family Farms and Clemens Food Group Teams by leading the Nursery and Finishing Service team and the relationships of over 250 contract producers. A successful candidate will be able work in a high paced environment, and be able to deliver results through your team. They will also need to be able to work with cross functional groups, on the live side of production and at the processing plant, to collaborate and provide solutions. Located in the beautifully scenic Central Pennsylvania close to Lancaster Amish tourist attractions, amusements such as Hershey Park, weekend getways to both historic Philaldephia, Pa and Inner Harbor Baltimore, MD. Extremely family-friendly with home to several Blue Ribbon public school  districts.



    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Nursery and Finishing production over sight 
    • Developing programs to help maximize profitability
    • Deliver hands on training to growers, barn team members and live haul drivers
    • Participate in meetings, committees and initiatives 
    • Results of nursery and finish P&L



    Roles and Responsibilities:


    Operational Oversight  - 35%


    Lead execution of bio-security program for nursery and finishing

    Lead execution of animal welfare program for nursery and finishing
    Lead execution of Marketing Solution program for nursery and finishing
    Assure effectiveness of non-compliance action plans
    Lead bi-weekly Finishing Service meetings
    Manage production and financial N&F budgets
    Develop production and financial N&F budgets
    Manage N&F PLs
    Approve Ivesco orders
    Own pig flow to accomplish targets
    Oversee marketing plans
    Oversee space requirements
    Review and approve Implementation Forms for new contracts
    Support Service Team with grower relations
    Schedule and execute ride-alongs with Service Team
    Evaluate grower performance during farm visit
    Evaluate grower performance data
    Meet production deadlines
    Understand and communicate industry changes within nursery and finishing
    Ensure adequate inventory controls on pig count, supplies, and feed
    Approve invoices and expenses
    Oversee contract termination meetings
    Oversee non-performing contract negotiations
    Input 4&8 wk mortality data
    Review nursery propane program yearly
    Ensure Service Team is using leading indicators to make decisions
    Challenge current practices
    Manage scope of Service Person responsibilities
    Approve expense reports for team
    Participate in period end financial reviews for CVFF
    Lead period end financial reviews for nursery and finishing

    Participate in nutritional performance review


    Communication - 10%

    Communicate new polices to team
    Communicate ongoing pig quality issues with Sow Service Managers
    Communicate ongoing quality issues with pre-harvest operations at CFG
    Communicate ongoing hauling issues with PVT
    Coordinate vendor farm visits
    Communicate and advocate system changes to team
    Coordinate grower meetings


    Talent Management - 12%

    Quarterly IPP reviews with team
    Coordinate team trainings
    Create succession plan for team members
    Evaluate and coach Service Team during farm visits
    Manage relations between supporting departments and Service Team
    Review and manage PTO for team
    Recruit and develop top talent

    Assess current talent and raise bar on expectations


    Strategy and Planning - 35%

    Participate in weekly Production Level 10 meetings
    Meet and approve prospect growers
    Ensure system improvement on inventory variances
    Oversee and participate in development of new production policies and processes
    Participate in development of herd health plan with vet
    Participate in vendor review and selection
    Participate in development of R&D trials
    Participate in future equipment purchases
    Lead R&D on facility and equipment development and design
    Participate in long range planning
    Participate in developing initiatives for N&F
    Establish KPIs for N&F
    Establish leading indicators to support KPIs
    Responsible for collecting competitive intelligance
    Lead and propose contract and incentive changes
    Ensure use of CI tools
    Develop business plan
    Review business plan with Supervisor
    Review direct reports' business plans
    Participate in Bio-security meeting
    Participate in Animal Welfare meeting
    Participate in NE3 Steering Committee meetings

    Participate in initiative teams

    Candidate should have a 4 year degree and at least 5 years experience in production management. This position requires frequent travel with occasional overnight travel required.
