    Responsibilities

    Production Management- 40% of the time
    49 day group check
    AI
    Barn environment check (air, water, feed)
    Boar management
    Comply with euthanasia policy
    Condition Scoring
    Conduct PPE inspections
    Cull selection
    Ensure Breed Department feed bin management
    Ensure overall barn organization and cleanliness
    Ensure that the Semen Handling Policy is being followed
    Ensure training of sows/gilts on Electronic Sow Feeding System (ESFS)
    Feedback
    Fill in for manager as needed
    Follow and ensure all production policies and processes
    Follow and ensure animal handling polices are implemented
    Follow and ensure animal welfare policies are implemented
    Follow and ensure safety policies are implemented
    Follow Bio-security policy
    Gilt acclimation
    Gilt selection to meet gilt replacement target
    Hold team accountable
    Implement pest control program
    Manage ADKAR plans
    Manage breed group makeup
    Manage expiration dates on meds and supplies
    Manage farm on weekend rotation
    Manage hospital pen
    Manage non-productive days
    Manage open sows/gilts
    Manage sow and gilt flow through breeding area
    Manage sow inventory
    Manage withdrawal dates
    Monitor daily ventilation checklist
    Monitor feed system for proper operation
    Monitor Push list (problem eaters - ESFS)
    Monitor semen quality
    Monitor sow herd health and condition
    Organize and manage crate/pen space in breed barn
    Oversee and manage special projects
    Oversee heat checking
    Oversee treatments
    Preg checking
    Receive gilts into GDU
    Review action list
    Schedule vaccinations

    Oversee Mentor Program

    Transfer gilts from GDU to breeding

     

    Communication- 15% of the time

    Communicate health issues to manager/vet
    Communicate month end supply needs to manager
    Communicate repair and maintenance needs to manager
    Communicate with internal/external customers
    Communicate with manager obstacles to implementing polices
    Create and communicate daily work schedule
    Delegate tasks to team members
    Communicate new policies
    Lead weekly Breed team meeting
    Oversee and troubleshoot department repairs/maintenance
    Participate in weekly team meeting
    Participate/lead in monthly talk topics

    Safety huddles

     

    Training- 15% of the time

    Bio-security training
    Develop team members
    Participate in training as needed
    Train new team members
    Training for Post Cervical AI
    Training on production policies and processes

    Training team members on Electronic Sow Feeding System

     

    Planning - 15% of the time

    Identify and team members for advancement
    Review performance monitor
    Schedule team members to complete diagnostic collection
    Strategize on how to meet breeding target
    Utilize Continous Improvement tools
    Breed Projection
    Semen ordering

    Ensure department PPE is in good working order

     

    Production Admin - 12% of the time

    Assist manager with managing budgets
    Complete daily EMS audit
    Data corrections to PigKnows in a timely manner
    Month end breed barn inventory

    Oversee all record keeping for area

     

    Team CFG- 3% of the time

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: •  Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent four year degree; or a minimum of five years related experiences and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience •  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions •  Must understand that the Company is a producer of high quality pork and be supportive of the mission of raising swine for meat. •  Must be willing to learn and perform the responsibilities described within CVFF’s process manual. •  Must be able to work in a stressful environment. •  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
